The Doric String Quartet make their debut at the Edinburgh International Festival (21 August) where they join forces with Australian-born composer Brett Dean to give the first European performance of Dean’s String Quartet No. 3 "Hidden Agendas” (co-commissioned by the festival). Dean himself joins the Doric players for the soaring melodies of Brahms’s powerful, orchestral-scale Second String Quintet to close.
Avi Avital sets off for South America this week with a 5 concert tour with the Orchestra L’Arte del Mondo performing a programme of Bach, Vivaldi, Bartok and De Falla.
