quoteinFlawless…The Petersen Quartet plays with such precision and cohesiveness as to astound the eye and ear.quoteout

This was the response of the Pittsburgh Post to a recent concert by the Petersen Quartet. The ensemble has come to be regarded as the epitome of high-calibre sound and fine musical timbre throughout Europe and North America.

Founded in Berlin, the Petersen Quartet owes its name to its founding first violinist of over 12 years, Ulrike Petersen. Guided by mentors such as the Amadeus Quartet, Sandor Vegh, and Thomas Brandis, the quartet won top prizes at the international music competitions in Evian in 1985, Florence in 1986, and at the ARD Competition in Munich in 1987.

Today the quartet is a regular guest in all the major musical centres of Europe and beyond. Appearances at the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Wigmore Hall in London, and the Louvre in Paris, as well as in Brussels, Rome, Madrid, and Zurich, represent the extensive concert activity of the ensemble throughout Europe.
