Juanjo Mena has established a reputation as a major force on the conducting scene delivering performances of the highest quality and style. He has been appointed Chief Conductor of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra from September 2011 for an initial period of three years, and his position in Bergen has been extended until 2013.
A conductor of great energy and vision, Mena’s current engagements include the Oslo Philharmonic, Orchestre National de France, RTVE Madrid, RAI Torino, Baltimore Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra and the Boston Symphony with whom he makes his debut in July 2010.
Highlights of the 2010-11 season include performances with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall and engagements with the Danish Radio Symphony, Dresden Philharmonic, New Zealand Symphony, Real Filharmonia de Galicia, Barcelona Symphony, Prague Symphony, Houston Symphony and the Orchestre National de Lyon.
