Anoushka Shankar has shown herself to be a unique artist with tremendous talent and understanding of the great musical tradition of India. She is the only artist in the world to be trained completely by her father, the legendary sitar virtuoso and composer, Ravi Shankar.

Anoushka spends much of the year giving solo performances in Europe, America and Asia. She is a gifted composer, and has scored the music for a short film titled Ancient Marks, and her fourth solo album, Rise, was nominated for a Grammy Award. She tours extensively both as a classical artist and with her experimental group “The Anoushka Shankar Project”. Her latest CD – Breathing Under Water – was released in September 2007. As her solo career continues to blossom, it seems she is poised to carry forward her father’s legacy as one of the most creative and influential figures in the music world.
